Requirements to Become a Member*:

• You must speak sufficient English

• You must legally reside within the United States or Canada

• You must be considerate of other members

• You must agree to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

• If requested for approval, you must provide acceptable proof of identity**

• If under the age of 13, you must have parental consent to apply, as required by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act

*Additional requirements may be imposed per individual season, such as eligibility based on geographic location or skill level

**In order for us to verify that you are eligible, and that the information you submit upon sign-up is accurate, you may be asked to prove one or more of these aspects in some manner. Depending on your age, this may include uploading an ID such as a driver's license, or some other form of trusted ID verification. Under no circumstance will you be asked for payment information during this process. In some situations, for the safety of our other members, we may request a brief video call (or phone call if preferred) to verify your identity. More information about this process can be found in our application form. You can also visit our Privacy Policy to see how such information will be stored and who will have access. Although learning and competing in chess is important, we first value the safety of our members and the protection of their personal information.
